    I've had my Charter arms explorer since 1977, still works well! Other than the barrel being somewhat more flimsy, I can expect my Henry AR-7 to last that long also. Footnote: I have been shooting guns since 1967, and i can say unequivocally: if what you want is a gun built like a tank, just get a good old Mosin or Mauser.

    In his own words... "They say within thirty years, white people are going to be a minority. I'm looking forward to it." - Joe Rogan "I see a lot of these f**king young white kids and they're just running to get free Nike's. I've watched about a hundred videos of people looting.... I might have seen four black people. It's all these white kids stealing sneakers, and that's really what's going on." - Joe Rogan "I'll tell the government right now, tell you right now if you're listening... I'm available. Okay, if you show me all the real [UFO] wreckage... I swear to God I'll make fun of that crap till the end of time. I'll make up stories...I'll lie to my mother. I don't care... you show me a UFO... I may be biased but the best unaltered camo I’ve seen used in multiple environments is woodland marpat. In the desert, I saw the guys in desert marpat before I saw the woodlands because a little bit of sand on the cammies lets them blend in with the little bit of brush in the background. The deserts and salty cammies stand out at eye level. Multicam as a base is just obvious from what I can tell. Most environments offer enough shade in the backdrop that the light colors just pop. Even in pictures I’ve seen you’re like “wow he looks badass” instead of “where is he?”.

    I have a yardsale plumb usa carpenters hatchet I picked up 15 years ago for 5 bucks at a yardsale and I use regularly which has better geometry and I would bet better steel for the purpose than the hard-core hammers hatchet.

  • @herbertgearing1702
    @herbertgearing1702 День тому

    I think the value aspect is more important to a person who is going to use the axe on a regular basis. Especially in the knife market there are many collectors who would never use or sharpen certain knives but are willing to pay quite a bit of money with the thought that if it isn't used they can resell it down the road in like new condition. If you plan to use, sharpen, and eventually wear out a knife or an axe the price is important over the life of the tool but so are things like cutting geometry and ease of sharpening, and replacement cost if lost or destroyed in the line of duty. I use 95% of my stuff so I typically look for the least expensive tool that is pleasant to use, easy to carry, and comes easy to sharpen. I don't want to have to completely regrind something before I use it but I prefer to do the initial sharpening on the axe because I have found that many axes which arrive sharp have had the temper compromised from the heat of a grinder on the extremely thin steel at the apex of a sharp edge. I'm sure some of the really expensive axes are stone ground or at least polished by someone who understands steel and keeps the overheating to a minimum, but I use hatchets and axes fairly often and I am not overly gentle with them as I can easily sharpen, repair, carve and hang a new handle if needed and I am not concerned with cosmetics. I agree with you about heat treatment and steel a quality steel and an appropriate hardness are right there with geometry as the most important things I look for when deciding on what I want to buy and what I want to use.

    From a branding perspective, OKC really screwed the pooch. They have an exceptionally long row to hoe if they want to continue using the OKC name AND have people making positive associations with their name. Personally, I'd rather see RAT/ESEE flourish and OKC go away. Sad but true. In a nutshell: OKC = Trash/Drama vs RAT/ESEE = Quality/Awesome Sometimes, things of historical significance need to stay in the past. How's fatherhood treating you, Jacob? You don't look too exhausted. :))

    • @InGratitudeIam
      @InGratitudeIam 2 дні тому

      @@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors If OKC can exist without anyone from its less than stellar past, then maybe. I do think that OKC does have historical significance. The problem is creating consistent quality, demonstrating a sincere desire to improve and be responsive to the customer. Trading on a name is no longer enough. There are too many great companies out there that can fill that void left by the old OKC. While its name escapes me at the moment, there's a young upstart company that makes a great little knife specifically designed for killing the Easter Bunny. :)
